Social Practice

Activism/Act/Art
Are “Art” and/or “Activism” made with people? At first one (all right I) mistook the grammatical sense. I thought (hoped) it meant painting on body parts, or painting parts of bodies. No, it means utilizing the tastes and talents and opinions of others in the art/activism itself. (Interesting. We’ll see…)

I Find Myself Wanting (An Explanation in Three Parts)

I. I Find Myself Wanting to advance the cause of sustainability and stewardship of the environment. To be a proactive artist/activist. To engage the community in social practice art that creates an awareness of our interdependence.
II. I Find Myself Wanting; acutely aware that habits, faults, and inclinations hinder the advancement of my ideas and ideals. That the better angels of my nature are waging battle with ego and self-interest (see “Ergo, the Ego,” “Big” and “Bigger”); fighting the forces of entropy.
III.I Find Myself Wanting – a hamburger. No, a cheeseburger. Fries. Diet soda – screw that, this is no time for restraint – a very large chocolate shake, and an apple pie. A cigarette, a spicy Bloody Mary, a hit, a brew, a cigar, followed in short order by a double espresso.

Welcome

It is wonderful to have you here at I Find Myself Wanting. Together we will explore new paradigms of art/activism, turn over fresh leaves, kick over rocks (assaying what lies beneath the surface), and open ourselves to innovative experiences and ideas.
Let the journey begin!
