Like the words “muse” and “right” and “tablet” sustainability has several meanings. One connotes a quality of guardianship; another, continuing upon the same path. Yet another is to attract large denominations via grants and subsidies. At times, these meanings may cause confusion or cancel themselves out. (Note to self: look further, deeper, and in connection with our A.S.S. into grants and subsidies.)
I fear that my own vantage point leans towards “Hey, warmer weather feels great!” Then one (or more) right-thinking individual(s) remind(s) me of our responsibility to future generations. Of course I vacillate – between personal comforts vs. conservation of the environment. Until someone brings up polar bears drowning due to diminishing ice caps. The poor polar bears have no one to speak for them but us! We got ourselves into this predicament; it is incumbent upon us to get ourselves (and the polar bears) out of it. (Besides, the p. bears are the epitome of cool!)
